Il tema della conferenza-dibattito è UNPAINTED. RIFLESSIONI SULLA PITTURA NELL'EPOCA POST-TECNOLOGICA, con particolare riferimento all’espressione pittorica contemporanea e/o al ritorno massiccio di questo mezzo presso le giovani generazioni. Probabilmente anche il pubblico, dopo tanta avanguardia legata al tempo delle ideologie concettuali, necessita e sente il bisogno di un ritorno, nello specifico, della figurazione, nel merito di una società artisticamente liquida. Pur assistendo a paralleli in altri campi, quali certa narratività nel video etc., è opportuno concentrarsi, però, su questo mezzo in particolare.

La mostra attualmente in corso presso il CACT, Centro d'Arte Contemporanea Ticino, UNPAINTED, della pittrice Francesca Guffanti costituisce un pretesto per realizzare una discussione attorno all’atto pittorico all’interno di una produzione artistica, in cui l’estetica della tecnologia è preponderante presso le giovani generazioni.

La serata, corredata da uno slide-show, sarà seguita da un rinfresco all'aperto.

The art historians GIUSEPPE CARRUBBA and SANDRA SOLIMANO, former director of Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art in Genoa, are the lecturers.
The moderator of the evening is the journalist ANNA MAZZUCCO.

Sunday 8 May 2011 at 5.00 p.m.

The title of this lecture-round table is UNPAINTED. THOUGHTS ON PAINTING IN THE POST-TECHNOLOGICAL AGE, whose topic relates in particular to the going back to contemporary pictorial expression among the young generation. Maybe the public too, after so much avant-garde linked with the age of conceptual ideologies, feels the need to go back to figuration within a society artistically liquid. It is suitable, in consideration of the parallels you find in other branches of art, like for instance a certain narration as far as the video is concerned, to concentrate on this specific medium (painting) in particular.

The current show at CACT, Centro d'Arte Contemporanea Ticino, UNPAINTED, of the artist Francesca Guffanti is the pretext to put up a discussion around painting related to contemporary artistic production, where the aesthetics given by technology is quite dominant within the young generations.

At the end of the lecture supplied by a slide-show, an outdoor catering follows.

Dopo una proiezione di suoi video selezionati, si è tenuta una conferenza-presentazione a cura di Mario Casanova e Pier Giorgio De Pinto. Gli ospiti-relatori invitati sono stati Angela Madesani, nota storica e critica dell'arte, curatrice indipendente, nonché esperta di fotografia e video arte, e Jean-Marie Reynier, artista, critico e curatore per I Sotterranei dell'Arte.

Centralisation and multi-disciplinarity

Designed as a cultural exchange and referral vehicle, the ch-arts site has the mission to centralise and reference various types of resources connected with the visual arts, performing arts, design, graphic arts and architecture.

Trilingual presentation and communication

ch-arts provides overviews of the current state of the contemporary arts in Switzerland, by means of several supplementary sections.

ch-arts introduces artists who are active and recognised on the contemporary Swiss scene, and in parallel provides cultural institutions with a dynamic, trilingual (French, German and English) communication structure to inform various audiences about their activities.

Evolutionary nature of the site

The content presented on ch-arts is a collection of information which is continuously expanding to follow the evolution of their respective domains. The flexible structure of the site makes it possible, at any time, to accommodate new developments in order to complete and enhance this information.

Selectivity and coherence

ch-arts does not claim to provide a complete panorama of all artistic output, but is rather a discerning and coherent set of information. Therefore, the content is chosen according to the criteria selected by the editors and the Steering Committee.

The selection of articles is governed by three criteria:

Geographical:

ch-arts presents artists and institutions established in Switzerland, or international institutions featuring Swiss artists.

Time:

The artists and works presented on ch-arts are contemporary - the site is mainly concerned with creation from the eighties to the present day.

Recognition:

The artists and institutions mentioned on ch-arts are active in at least one of the domains involved (visual arts, performing arts, design, graphic arts, architecture) and demonstrate a contemporary approach in their own disciplines. They have achieved recognition at regional, national or international level via bona fide channels.

The CACT Centre of Contemporary Art in Canton Ticino starts from December 2010 a series of events and other initiatives beside the exhibition program of the Centre. This new activities are generally named The Living Room at 5 o’clock. Thank to this new proposal, the CACT aims to boost the professional diffusion and thinking on contemporary identity beyond the official institutions.

This first event will focus on the realm of cultural independent spaces in Ticino and in Switzerland.

Con tale nuova proposta, il CACT intende incentivare la diffusione professionale dell’arte e del pensiero contemporanei al di fuori dei canali istituzionali.
Il primo di questi eventi sarà, appunto, una riflessione sulle realtà indipendenti in Ticino e in Svizzera.
