Nell’anno 2014, iniziato con DIALOGOS (2), esposizione tematica di gruppo che ha messo in luce il dialogo tra curatori e artisti, il MACT/CACT ha presentato 6 nuove mostre.

Voluta in collaborazione con lo spazio Riss(e) di Varese di Ermanno Cristini, per questa mostra è stato edito il Cahier d’Art #5.

ACCOSTAMENTI. RIFLESSIONI SUL SILENZIO è l’esposizione che ha messo a confronto tre autori, Margret Eicher, Fabrizio Sacchetti, Christian Zucconi, provenienti dalla Germania e dall’Italia. I grandi arazzi post-contemporanei di Margret Eicher e i video e le fotografie di Sacchetti e Zucconi sul tema dell’identità entro una società unisessuale e priva di riferimenti sia politici che sociali.

Esce nel frattempo il Cahier d'Art #6, dedicato all'opera fotografica di Eduardo Tachado con un testo critico bilingue italiano-inglese di Mario Casanova.

Esposizione di particolare interesse è quella dedicata a uno degli artisti più importanti, perché controverso, del panorama svizzero e internazionale: Martin Disler (1949-1996). Con METAMORFOSI E L’ESPRESSIONE DELL’ARCHETIPO, il MACT/CACT ha voluto anche festeggiare il ventesimo anniversario della sua fondazione, che vide – proprio nel 1994 – l’artista Martin Disler protagonista di un’esposizione importante (la prima del nostro Istituto) a Castelgrande e al MACT/CACT. Per la sezione al Castello di Bellinzona si era chiesto ad Aurelio Galfetti di allestire la serie quasi completa delle sculture di bronzo dalla serie serie Häutung un Tanz (1990-1991), precedentemente esposte al Museo Lembachhaus München, Kunsthalle Basel e Whitechapel Gallery London. Al MACT/CACT Disler eseguì su tutte le pareti una grande pittura murale, oggi ormai distrutta, titolata Wie Vögel auf toten Bäumen (1994).

 

Le due mostre IL GABINETTO PRIVATO DI UN RACCOGLITORE D'IMMAGINI e PEINTURE DE CHAMBRE hanno costituito, insieme, una mostra combinata di due idee: la prima era mirata a restituire al nostro pubblico una particolare idea attorno al collezionismo in rapporto a una specifica geografia sia territoriale che culturale; la seconda lanciava, invece, la proposta di un giovane artista-pittore italiano di origine siciliana di talento alla sua prima personale al MACT/CACT: Sebastiano Impellizzeri.

La sezione più antologica e dal taglio maggiormente museologico presentava gli autori Katia Bassanini (CH), Fiorenza Bassetti (CH), Giona Bernardi (CH), Jon Campbell (USA-D), Giuseppe Chiari (I), Pier Giorgio De Pinto (CH), Martin Disler (CH), Alex Hanimann (CH), Csaba Kis Róka (HU), Andrea La Rocca (I), Ingeborg Lüscher (CH), Meret Oppenheim (CH), Valter Luca Signorile (I), Andro Wekua (USA).

In questa occasione è uscito il Cahier d’Art #7, titolato PINOCCHIO e dedicato all’opera su carta di Andrea La Rocca. Bello e interessante è il lungo testo critico del giovane filologo e curatore Dario Giovanni Alì.

BELLEZZA E DECOSTRUZIONE è il titolo della mostra personale dell’artista romando di origine san gallese Stéphane Zaech. Pittore ‘duro e puro’, Zaech ha affrontato i due temi principali della pittura – il ritratto e, in maniera meno frequente, il paesaggio –, facendo uso di olio e tela (o carta e matita per quanto attiene al disegno). Oltre a essere nuovamente un riferimento alla post-contemporaneità, dove si fondono citazionismo e politonalità, Zaech è uno scrittore di talento, come accade per gli artisti visivi, più spesso di quanto si possa credere. Alla mostra avevamo dato un taglio monolitico, nella misura in cui abbiamo selezionato e presentato esclusivamente tele di grande formato.

KEIN KÖRPER è il titolo della quarta mostra personale di quest’anno dedicata a Valter Luca Signorile e attualmente in corso fino all’8 febbraio. Per questa occasione è uscito il Cahier d’Art #8 con introduzione e intervista all’artista a cura di Mario Casanova (testi in italiano e inglese).

Signorile ha già esposto ripetutamente al MACT/CACT e sue opere figurano in deposito all’interno della collezione. Questa è la prima sua personale, per la quale le opere sono realizzate appositamente e all’uopo.

KEIN KAMPF è il titolo dagli oscuri rimandi dell’opera che dà inizio a tutta la mostra. Una scritta composta da lampadine montate su di una struttura a cassetta di metallo non trattato e quindi possibilmente sottoposto ai cambiamenti atmosferici. Il rapporto con la Storia e l’Umanità attraverso l’analisi del Corpo e del concetto di Spirito, spinge continuamente l’opera di Signorile (di cui Mario Casanova scrisse in maniera approfondita nel suo Il Corpo del Reato/The Body of Evidence, ed. Neos.e, Genova, 2008) entro una dimensione più mistica che filosofica.

Il taglio dato al contenuto del Cahier d’Art #8 dedicato alla sua opera si riferisce, nel dialogo tra curatore e artista, ai concetti di certezza e mistero. Il suo layout interamente curato da Pier Giorgio De Pinto intende riflettere il più possibile il contenuto dell’opera di Signorile, anziché rappresentare un mero prodotto grafico.

Parallelamente è stata sostenuta la performance titolata SONO COME IL VETRO di Valter Luca Signorile a Torino lo scorso 8 novembre 2014.

Inoltre, il critico d’arte Giuseppe Carrubba sarà il relatore della conferenza titolata SE IL CORPO PERDE FORMA. Arte irregolare e annullamento del soggetto. La ricerca artistica in Valter Luca Signorile.

Per quanto attiene agli eventi, nel corso del 2014 ci siamo concentrati soprattutto sul nuovo e interessante progetto del duo AMAE/ Pier Giorgio De Pinto in collaborazione con il filosofo francese Jean-Luc Nancy, per il quale i due artisti hanno deciso di performare i suo 58(+1) Indici sul Corpo, aggiungendo il filosofo altri 4 nuovi Indici (59-62). Questi eventi sono stati realizzati presso INACT Festival Strasbourg, MACT/CACT Bellinzona, Whitechapel Gallery London.

Il primo dei 5 eventi è stata la performance di Pier Giorgio De Pinto dal titolo Creatures #3 realizzata al [.BOX] di Milano, cui hanno fatto seguito, con il collettivo AMAE di Londra la serie di performance di AMAE/DE PINTO in collaborazione con il filosofo francese Jean-Luc Nancy, le importanti performance realizzate a INACT Festival Strasbourg, MACT/CACT (workshop e performance) e WHITECHAPEL GALLERY London.

Referring to the Workshop and Performance entitled C.O.R.E Strange foreign bodies by AMAE/DE PINTO, which will take place at MACT/CACT the 24^th and 25^th of May 2014, many people sent their application and therefore we thank you a lot for your warm participation. Due to the important number of subscriptions, AMAE/ DE PINTO now decided to admit 10 people, instead of 8 as we officially previously announced.

Conducted by Pier Giorgio De Pinto and Ivan Lupi (art collective AMAE) in collaboration with the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge - no specific training or education is required.

Lunch and coffee breaks are offered by MACT/CACT Contemporary Art in Canton Ticino.

The Workshop will be held in Italian with a possible simultaneous translation in English.

framework, motivations and objectives

Jean-Luc Nancy’s notions of body and soul gave us more questions than answers. In addition to this, while contemplating the artworks of the neo-expressionist painter Martin Disler (1949-1996), we completely abandoned our ideas about the body - in order to find the body again from other perspectives and via other bodies, foreign and strange.

The artistic collaboration between Amae/De Pinto, intends to pay homage to Disler/Nancy’s artistic/philosophical research with a choral performance investigating the topics that gave the structure to the works of these two great authors during their lives. The workshop aims to provide the participants with the necessary conditions for an active critical approach to the relationship between body and soul by making such notions physical and tangible, tactile and sensory. If this experiment succeeds through the final performance it will confirm that little is known about these topics.

The workshop will last one day and will be divided into different moments between different philosophical approaches (hearing and viewing) with a few moments of practice and action (performance).

The workshop will mainly focus on both the fundamental: Jean-Luc Nancy’s 58 indices sur le corps/Extension de l’âme (58 indices on the body/extension of the soul), as well as the observation and interpretation of Disler’s paintings exhibited within the show at MACT/CACT. Disler’s pieces will represent the pivot point for the final performance. During the workshop the participants will be involved in both group and individual activities in order to provide everyone with the necessary instruments to take active part within the final performance Index 58. C.O.R.E Strange foreign bodies.

The participants will be asked to express themselves by creating actions and objects that examine the notion of “soul”.

AMAE Art Collective. AMAEʼs research contaminates traditional languages of art communication (poetry, video, sound, photography, installation, performance) with mass media via photographic works and performances, which are often broadcast live on the web.

AMAEʼs research recently approached queer theory with a group of works developed with the support of Birmingham City University. The works explore the theory of the self, the perception of sexuality and the therapeutic influence of art in the construction of identity.

Pier Giorgio De Pinto is a trans-disciplinary artist, curator, theorist and media trainer.

De Pinto concentrates on new media in which he involves the audience, creating performative experiences and immersive environments. Mapping the body as personal genius loci (spirit of the place) referenced to a clearly identifiable psycho-geography is one of the topics on which the artist is working, while drawing thematic inspiration from the television and cinema scene, as well as from the social environment.

Martin Disler (1949-1996) is a Swiss painter, a sculptor and a writer. He moved to Germany where he joined the Neue Wilden group of painters who would practise a new expressionist style inspired from Northern European culture. In the 1970s and 1980s, Disler worked in numerous cities in Europe and the USA.

In 1982, he exhibited works at the Documenta 7. In Italy his works are shown during the Venice Biennale of 1984. After two years a big solo exhibition at Kunstmuseum Basel. Between 1989 and 1991 he produced a series of 66 bronze sculptures entitled Häutung und Tanz (The Shedding of Skin and Dance), the biggest set of works later exhibited at the Whitechapel Gallery in London, Kunsthalle Basel, Lenbachhaus München, and at the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg. The 66 anthropomorphic sculptures were created at his studio in Lugano (Ticino) assisted by Giorgio Staro. The last major exhibition of Häutung und Tanz (The Shedding of Skin and Dance) took place in 1994 at Castelgrande in Bellinzona, and at CACT Centre for Contemporary Art in Ticino with a mural entitled Wie Vögel auf toten Bäume" (Like birds on dead trees), both exhibitions curated by Mario Casanova.

Jean-Luc Nancy is a French philosopher emeritus of philosophy at the University of Strasbourg. Along with Derrida (who dedicated to Nancy a large number of studies) can be considered one of the greatest specialists of deconstructionism. His thought is articulated on different levels from the more political perspective to the wider field of arts and aesthetics (relevant is his text The Muse). His books generate much interest often with strong autobiographical references as ‘Corpus’, which contains the text ‘The intruder’, strong and emotional reflection on his heart transplant. He has collaborated with numerous artists like Claudio Parmeggiani, Claire Denis, Mathilde Monnier, Abbas Kiarostami, Simon Hantai. Recently Mr Nancy also curated the exhibition L’altro ritratto (The other portrait) at MART Art Museum in Rovereto, Italy. Over the past two years, the encounter with Pier Giorgio De Pinto and the collective AMAE for their project 58 (+1) Indices on the body stimulated Jean-Luc Nancy to revise his text 58 Indices sur le corps, by expanding it and implementing four new "indices" specifically created for this project. At the same time, for the first time, he recorded his voice reading all his "Indices". Some of these recordings will be performed in streaming or live during events and/or exhibitions with AMAE / DE PINTO among others during the Festival INACT in Strasbourg in May 2014 and the event The Voice and the Lens at the Whitechapel Gallery in London, United Kingdom in June 2014.

SCENARIO, MOTIVAZIONI E OBBIETTIVI

I testi del filosofo Jean-Luc Nancy circa il corpo e l’anima hanno aperto più domande che risolto risposte. Così come contemplando le opere dell’artista neo-espressionista Martin Disler (1949-1996) perdiamo completamente l’idea del corpo per ritrovarlo in estensioni e corpi altri, stranieri, estranei.

Il duo artistico Amae/De Pinto unitosi in collaborazione per il progetto 58 (+1) Indices on the body vuole omaggiare la ricerca pittorico/filosofica di Disler/Nancy con una performance corale sui temi cari che hanno strutturato le opere di questi due grandi autori nel corso della loro vita.

Il workshop vuole fornire ai partecipanti le condizioni necessarie per una riflessione attiva sulla relazione filosofica tra corpo e anima in un rovesciamento tangibile dagli aspetti tattili e sensoriali. Se questo gioco si renderà possibile tramite l’atto performativo finale, avremo la riprova che del corpo e dell’anima sappiamo davvero ancora molto poco.

Il workshop si sviluppa in una giornata divisa in momenti di approccio filosofico (ascolto-visione) e in momenti di pura pratica e azione (performance).

Si affronteranno principalmente sia uno dei testi fondamentali di Jean-Luc Nancy quale 58 Indices sur le corps/Extension de l’âme nella sua edizione in italiano “58 indizi sul corpo/Estensione dell’Anima”, che l’osservazione dei dipinti di Martin Disler esposti all’interno della mostra dedicatagli presso il MACT/CACT. Saranno proprio questi lavori a fungere da elemento cardine per la performance corale finale.

Durante il workshop i partecipanti verranno coinvolti in attività di gruppo ed individuali al fine di dare ad ognuno gli strumenti necessari per prendere parte attiva alla performance finale Index 58. C.O.R.E Strange foreign bodies.

I partecipanti saranno chiamati ad esprimersi con azioni e manufatti sulla nozione di «anima».

I FACILITATORI NONCHÉ GUIDE DI QUESTO PERCORSO

AMAE Art Collective. La ricerca del collettivo contamina i linguaggi tradizionali della comunicazione d’arte (poesia, video, audio, fotografia, installazione, performance), con i mass-media attraverso opere fotografiche e performance, spesso trasmesse in streaming. AMAE ha recentemente avvicinato le teorie queer con un gruppo di opere sviluppate grazie al supporto della Birmingham City University. Le opere esplorano la teoria del Sé, la percezione della sessualità e l'influenza terapeutica dell'arte nella costruzione dell'identità.

Pier Giorgio De Pinto è un artista trans-disciplinare, un curatore, un teorico e un media trainer.

De Pinto utilizza fortemente i nuovi media creando esperienze performative e ambienti immersivi in cui coinvolge il pubblico. La mappatura del corpo come genius loci (spirito del luogo) personale riferito ad una psico-geografia ben precisa è tra i suoi temi, cui l’artista sta lavorando prendendo spunto tematico dal mondo televisivo e dal cinema, o, dalla società che ci circonda.

Martin Disler (1949-1996) è stato un pittore, scultore e scrittore svizzero tedesco. Emigra in Germania dove si unisce al Gruppo Neue Wilden che pratica un nuovo stile espressionista che sempre più prenderà piede nel nord Europa. Negli anni tra il 1970 e il 1980 opera come artista in numerose città europee e negli Stati Uniti.

Nel 1982 espone un ciclo di opere a Documenta VII. In Italia inaugura una mostra durante i lavori della Biennale di Venezia del 1984. Un paio di anni dopo tiene una sua importante personale al Kunstmuseum di Basilea. Tra il 1989 e il 1991 realizza 66 bronzi per l’opera Häutung und Tanz (Metamorfosi e danza) che diviene la sua più grande esposizione di opere in bronzo. Viene esposta presso la Whitechapel Gallery di Londra, presso la Kunsthalle di Basilea, il Lenbachhaus, in Monaco di Baviera, e presso il Museo Wilhelm-Lehmbruck, a Duisburg. Le 66 sculture antropomorfe furono realizzate presso il suo studio a Lugano assistito da Giorgio Staro. Nel 1994 a cura di Mario Casanova espone parte dell’opera appena citata presso gli spazi del Castel Grande a Bellinzona e al contempo realizza presso il CACT Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea del Ticino l’opera murale Wie Vögel auf toten Bäumen (Come uccelli su alberi morti).

Jean-Luc Nancy è un filosofo francese emerito di filosofia presso l’Università di Strasburgo. Insieme a Derrida (cui dedicò a Nancy un ampio studio) può essere considerato il maggior esponente del decostruzionismo.

Il suo pensiero è articolato su diversi piani dalla riflessione più strettamente politica a quella più vasta sull’arte e l’estetica (significativo in questa direzione il testo Le Muse). Molto interesse hanno suscitato i suoi libri spesso con forte connotazione autobiografica come Corpus che contiene il testo L’intruso riflessione forte ed emozionante sul suo trapianto di cuore. Ha collaborato con numerosi artisti, Claudio Parmeggiani, Claire Denis, Mathilde Monnier, Abbas Kiarostami, Simon Hantai curando recentemente anche la mostra L’altro ritratto presso il MART di Rovereto in Italia. Negli ultimi due anni, l’incontro con Pier Giorgio De Pinto e il collettivo AMAE per il loro progetto 58 (+1) Indices on the body stimola Jean-Luc Nancy a rivedere il suo testo 58 Indices sur le corps ampliandolo con quattro nuovi “indices” appositamente creati per il progetto. Allo stesso tempo per la prima volta registra con la propria voce tutti gli “indices”. Alcuni di questi saranno performati live o in streaming in alcune occasioni espositive, con AMAE/DE PINTO, come durante il Festival INACT a Strasburgo e l’evento The Voice and the Lens presso la Whitechapel Gallery di Londra.
